Spring Huntington Beach Volleyball Tournament

What you need to know

While we wait for the tournament on Saturday, May 20th, here are a few additional details that might help you prepare… If you have ANY questions not answered here, please don’t hesitate to email or call us!

Tournament Details: Saturday, May 20th. Tournament pool play games start at 9:00am. Please be sure to arrive at least 20 minutes before your first game to check in & warm up. Once you arrive at the beach, you’ll need to go directly to the main tent to sign-in with a photo ID, receive your wristband (wristbands are required to play), and ask any questions you may have. Scoring will be to 15 points using rally scoring. You must win by 2 points; however, the score is capped at 21. Party division plays 3 sets during round robin. Premier division plays 1 set during round robin.

Alcohol is not permitted due to State Law, but prepackaged ice chests, water bottles, gatorades, snacks, and beach gear (tents, games, beach chairs, etc) are encouraged!!

Game LocationGames are played on the beach at Newland & Pacific Coast Highway.

Schedule: The Pool Play game schedule is posted on our mobile-friendly website at http://www.beachcitysports.com/league/61786/schedule. Seeding will be determined by those games and teams will be placed into a single elimination bracket for their division:

 


ParkingBiking, walking or carpooling is highly recommendedCar parking is also available in the paid/permit State Beach Parking Lot nearest to the Volleyball Nets, although it costs up to $15/day. Street parking is sometimes available a 5-10 minute walk up Newland Street. Please plan ahead to give yourself plenty of extra time if you are parking, so that game times are not affected by late-comers.

MORE DETAILS ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT PLAY:
✓ Tournament will start in a pool-style play, both Party & Premier Division teams will be grouped into separate pools.
✓ Pooled teams will play each other in the party division for best of 3 sets and in the premier division best of 1 set. All teams in the party division will advance into the single elimination tournament. Only the top 4 teams in the premier divisions will advance to the single elimination tournament. (The teams who lose in the tournament are welcome to continue playing on the extra courts)
✓ Scoring : Rally points. All sets will be played up to 15 points, must win by 2 cap of 21.

Uniforms / Clothing: Each team should coordinate with their own color - check with your team captain to find out which color he/she has confirmed with us! If you are unsure please at a minimum bring both a light and dark shirt to represent home & away. Proper attire will include comfortable shorts or workout pants (or some choose to simply wear a bathing suit). We also suggest bringing socks just in case the sand is too hot or cold.  Balls, Lines & other equipment will be provided.  

Food & Drinks: Hydration is important when playing outdoor sports, so please be sure to pack your own water bottle. After the games, Cruisers will be offering 20% off their regularly-priced menu to all players.
